There are a number of areas involving the law and government rules, which could severely impact on your business yet these risks are often overlooked until it's too late.

As part of your Business Club Membership you are automatically insured for the legal and professional costs and expenses for the following:

Employment Disputes
These are becoming more and more frequent in our growing compensation culture. Any dispute with an employee (or ex-employee) relating to their Contract of Employment, The Race Relations Act and The Sex Discrimination Act are covered.

Compensation.
. and damages for dismissal of employees. Tribunals and Courts can now award up to £58,400. Such awards are covered.

Debt Recovery
Often businesses are reluctant to take legal action due to the high costs involved to recover bad debts - now you can. Any debt over £260 is eligible.

Tax Investigations
The legal and accountancy costs associated with these can be substantial. In addition to Inland Revenue Investigations you are also covered for the costs of VAT, PAYE and National Insurance disputes. The Inland Revenue has stated that every business will be examined in detail at least every 10 years.

Landlord Disputes
Any dispute relating to the lease of your business premises is covered.

Contractual Disputes
Any contractual dispute in excess of £1,000 for both purchases and goods and services supplied.

Criminal Proceedings
Directors, Partners, Proprietors and their employees are covered for defence costs in relation to their legal obligations in business and pension funds.

The policy includes a 24-hours Commercial Legal Helpline Service for guidance on Employment Issues and initial advice on any legal problem. As a member of The Business Club you will be issued with a fully detailed insurance policy which defines your rights and conditions of cover. As with any insurance policy you have to meet certain criteria to claim.
