Exciting Seminar for SMEs from Bibby

Bibby Financial Services together with Smith Partnership and Venturn Ltd, invite you to attend our Breakfast Meeting focusing on Business Turnaround - Retaining Control.
As a valued intermediary and as someone who is at the forefront of supporting the UK's small and medium sized businesses, I am delighted to invite you to a Breakfast Meeting which will tackle the topical area of Business Turnaround and how you can help your clients retain control of these situations.

Bibby Financial Services and a select panel, Rachel McCahill-Brown of Smith Partnership, Stephen Moon of Venturn Ltd and David Webb of Bibby Financial Services will explore the issues and risks surrounding business turnaround and will share their experiences and thoughts on how to help businesses retain control in these difficult and uncertain times.
Initially Stephen will be exploring the different ways that directors and business owners can identify potential problems, how best to react to these problems and the options available pre formal proceedings.
Rachel will then be unravelling the array of formal proceedings which may be an option should businesses need to take formal action and how this affects the businesses ability to trade or not depending on the circumstances.

And finally David will highlight how Bibby Financial Services financially supports these businesses though these uncertain times and the options available in whatever format the future holds.

The Breakfast meeting will take place on Wednesday 8th September 2010 at the Leicester Marriott Hotel adjacent to junction 21 of the M1. The event will commence at 7.45am where guests will be treated to breakfast followed by an informative panel discussion and the opportunity to share your experiences and network with people from the local business community.

121s going telephonic
That's probably not even a word, but never mind. The Business Club Surgery sessions, where we sit down 1 on 1 with a member to help them with their business, or an aspect of the Club, are going very well. We've had some great feedback and want we do more.  Since we realize that some of you can't come out to see us, we've introduced a quick phone service which may help. This will allow Business Club members to book 20 minute phone calls with us. It's easy to do, log on to Contact Manager and print off the 121 questionnaire from the shared document section, fill it in and either fax or email back. We'll email you the time of the phone call, and that's it. So if you can't make a Surgery session due to time, give this a try.

Regular Risk Assessment Can save Time and Money

A risk assessment is an important step in protecting your workers and your business, as well as complying with the law. It helps you focus on the risks that really matter in your workplace - the ones with the potential to cause real harm. In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks, for example ensuring spillages are cleaned up promptly so people do not slip, or cabinet drawers are kept closed to ensure people do not trip. For most, that means simple, cheap and effective measures to ensure your most valuable asset - your workforce - is protected.   The law does not expect you to eliminate all risk, but you are required to protect people as far as 'reasonably practicable'.
A risk assessment is simply a careful examination of what, in your work, could cause harm to people, so that you can weigh up whether you have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm. Workers and others have a right to be protected from harm caused by a failure to take reasonable control measures. Accidents and ill health can ruin lives and affect your business too if output is lost, machinery is damaged, insurance costs increase or you have to go to court. You are legally required to assess the risks in your workplace so that you put in place a plan to control the risks.
